Dear Pastor,
Today is one of the worse times in our society for our children. Never before has it been so critical that we start to take drastic measures to reverse the epidemic of disease, destruction and death that’s griped our community. Many of you have effectively demonstrated your concern for the youth and singles in your congregation, however no matter what you are doing, collectively the Body of Christ is not being productive. We are actually losing the battle to make righteousness the rule and not the exception among those God has called us to shepherd.
Some of you may not know how critical it has become and how much danger our youth are in, and because you may not know, many parents don’t know. A lot of information on what’s happening in society that affects the Body of Christ comes from the pulpit. I believe we are indeed in a spiritual warfare that’s raging all around us without our earnest contribution to win, basically because of our lack of knowledge of the real issues. Knowledge is power and a good defense is actually a good consistent offense, we must be proactive instead of always being reactive. Because of my ministry, I am painfully aware of the need to address the sexual issues that have become a taboo in the Body of Christ, for when the people of God know better, they do better!
How bad is it? Have things become as critical as I’ve said they were? Look at the statistics below and I think you will better understand my sense of urgency.
The results of “Fatherless” homes
Children who grow up in fatherless homes are at a greater risk of experiencing one or more of the tragic results below. This does not discount the faithfulness of many mothers and supportive family members in single parent households, however the figures do demonstrate the reality we are facing in today’s society.
Children who grow up in a fatherless home have a:
77% greater risk of being physically abused
87% greater risk of being harmed by physical neglect
65% greater risk of experiencing notable physical neglect
74% greater risk of suffering from emotional neglect
80% greater risk of suffering from serious injury as a result of abuse
85% greater risk overall of being endangered by some type of child abuse
Note: 88% of sexually abused children don’t tell anyone about the abuse
Also
70% of the juveniles in state reform institutions grew up in a fatherless or no-parent environment
72% of adolescents charged with murder grew up without their father
57-70% of African American children live with their mothers only, 40% “may” only see their fathers once a year, some NEVER meet their father and 50% of these children who live with mothers only have never set foot in the home of their father.
The results of fatherless homes also contribute significantly to the sexual promiscuity of our youth. Children are becoming sexually active at earlier ages directly because of the lack of a male role model and/or the emotional and physiological needs that’s never met at home by a father.
For instance…
Over 2,400 teenage girls get pregnant each day.
North Carolina (my state) has the 9th highest teen pregnancy rate in the nation
Guilford County (my county) ranks 14th in regards to HIV infection
Each day there are over 10,000 teenagers who contract a STD
1 out of 4 teenage girls (14-19) who are sexually active presently have a STD
48% of the sexually active teenage African American girls presently have a STD
Two young people in the USA contract HIV every hour of every day, that’s a minimum of 48 per day!
Since 1973, over 14 million African Americans have been killed from abortions
Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, performs over 5,000 abortions each week, 78% of their murder clinics are located in or near minority communities, is this by accident or design?
Pastor I’m sure you get an idea of how bad it’s become and how vitally important it is to begin measures that will reverse these awful statistics. Securing Hope Ministry is dedicated and actively involved in providing information that will reverse the generational curse of ignorance and sexual misconduct that’s adversely affecting our society; especially in the Body of Christ.
Let us help you make that change that will benefit generations!
One question, if you have unmarried children and/or grandchildren, who are they going to marry? What you do today in this regard, will affect them tomorrow.
Yours in the struggle,
Elder Raymond S. King Jr.
